Welcome to Friends of Hildenborough, our PTA
Hello and welcome to Hildenborough C of E Primary’s Parent Teacher Association, a group we call ‘Friends of Hildenborough’. As parents and carers, we are all automatically members, and our aim is to enhance the learning experiences of our children by raising additional funds. This is especially important at a time when school budgets are being stretched. We strongly believe that the school and parents working in partnership is the most positive way to raise money and secure the best educational resources for our children.
The difference we make
Fundraising - every penny raised directly benefits our children.
Fun and community - our events are enjoyed by children, parents, and teachers alike, and are a great way to bring the whole school community closer together.
Parent voice - discussing where PTA money is spent, talking to teaching staff and everything in between contributes to school decision-making.
In 2023/24, our fantastic community raised over £15,000. We supported the school in a number of ways, including funding the OPAL set-up and ground works, the new chicken coop and SEN-support software for the school. We also continue to support clubs the children enjoy (gardening club, craft club) and we contribute annually to events for the Year 6 leavers.
Our events for children and adults take place throughout the year and include our popular Christmas and Summer fairs, Christmas wreath making, school discos, World Book Day events and the annual quiz night for adults. We also raise money through regular bake sales, ‘Frozen Friday’ ice lolly sales in summer, the Head Teacher for the Day raffle, Break the Rules Day, serving refreshments at events, and you can even recycle unwanted clothing in our charity clothing bank to help boost our funds. You can also support the PTA by using Easyfundraising when you shop, purchasing Stikins labels and getting matched funding from your employer. We love coming up with new ideas and welcome all suggestions.
Come and join us
We are a friendly group who share the work load so nobody is overburdened. We welcome as much or as little time as you can spare – if you want to volunteer to do a stall once a year, help at one craft club or join more regularly, or if you have a special skill that might be useful or a fundraising idea, all contributions are valued.
We have some newly-created roles to fill this year (Communications Lead, Events, and Fundraising and Grants Research volunteers) and our current Chair, Treasurer and Secretary will be stepping down at the end of this academic year, so we are actively seeking new members of our core PTA group. If you would like to chat about what is involved and how you can volunteer, please get in touch at friendsofhildenborough@hotmail.co.uk
Your help will be greatly appreciated and will make a big difference. You may even have fun!
To keep up-to-date with our news, you can find us in the weekly school newsletter, on Facebook, or ask your class rep to add you to our WhatsApp group.
Thank you
Stephanie Keefe (Chair), on behalf of all members of Friends of Hildenborough, PTA
