School Houses

Our children belong to many communities within their class, their school house, the whole school as well as being part of our local and worldwide community.

Within school the children are divided into four Houses: Weald, Riding, Brook and Hilden.
House points are awarded mainly for homework, good conduct, helpfulness and trying hard with their learning. Each week a cup is awarded to the house with the most points. In the summer term we have an inter-house sports day and the winning house retains the ‘Bancroft’ sports cup for the year.
To facilitate the running of the House system and to encourage responsibility and self-reliance, House captains and vice-captains are appointed annually from Year 6 pupils. Year 6 children are also appointed Buddies to help younger children in the playground and are given extra responsibilities within the school community. Games Captains, whose responsibilities are to decide on and lead lunchtime activities, to keep the PE shed organised and to help at events such as Sports Day, are also selected.
